Veronica West is a registered psychologist (BPsychSc(Hons), MPH, MPsych) based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. She works clinically with adults and adolescents via secure telehealth and provides clinical supervision for psychologists and allied health professionals across Australia. She is also the founder of My Thriving Mind, a digital therapy resource platform serving mental health professionals.

Clinical Background

Veronica became a registered psychologist in early 2018, following three years working in practice management for a psychology clinic. Since registration, she has worked across employment services, regional and rural mental health in Queensland, telehealth, and clinical program design.

She served as Queensland State Manager for Back to Work, an employment services provider, leading clinical teams and developing therapeutic resources. She later joined We Lysn as a clinician and then as Head of Clinical Programs, where she developed content, programs, and resources for telehealth delivery across Australia.

She currently holds a Clinical Lead role within a multidisciplinary telehealth service alongside her private practice and supervision work.

Areas of Clinical Practice

Veronica’s clinical work covers a range of presentations. Areas she works with most commonly include:

  • Trauma and PTSD, including complex trauma
  • ADHD and neurodivergence-affirming practice
  • Anxiety, including health anxiety, social anxiety, and panic
  • Attachment, codependency, and relationship dynamics
  • Emotional regulation and the practical application of DBT, CBT, and ACT
  • Burnout and chronic stress

Clinical Approach

Veronica’s approach is collaborative and evidence-informed. She treats clients as the experts on their own lives, while bringing the therapeutic frameworks and skills developed across nearly a decade of registered practice.

The approaches she draws on most include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches. Across all of them, the through-line is the same: meeting clients where they are, working with what matters to them, and adapting the work to the person rather than the other way around.
